Healthwatch Essex has appointed Samantha Glover as its new Chief Executive Officer
Sam is currently Dental Public Health Program Manager at Public Health England and has been on the board of Healthwatch Essex over the past eight years, recently becoming Chair. She is welcomed in the position, applying over 18 years of social care experience in hospitals, community settings – both private and NHS – and primary/secondary care, with a keen focus on embedding lived experience into the community to help influence change.
Sam will take up the position from the beginning of August 2020.
Gary Hyams, who will be replacing Sam as the new Chair of Healthwatch Essex Board, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Samantha Glover as the new CEO of Healthwatch Essex. Sam brings immense experience of the health and care needs of the public in Essex having previously served the organisation as a director for eight years, as well as being employed as a Dental Public Health Program Manager for Public Health England in the region”.
Sam said: “I am honoured and excited to be taking on the role of CEO for Healthwatch Essex. Having lived, worked and studied in Essex, I have a great passion for the place and the people and look forward to being able to use this passion to ensure that the lived experience of the people of Essex is listened to and used to make positive change.”
The appointment means that Gary Hyams, who was previously Vice-Chair of the Healthwatch Essex Board, will now become the Chair. Gary is currently the CEO of Support 4 Sight, a charity that supports blind and partially sighted people throughout mid and west Essex. Gary also sits on the Board of Directors of the Saffron Walden Business Improvement District.
He said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair of Healthwatch Essex, working closely with the Board and the executive management team to guide Healthwatch Essex through the next phase of its journey. My time on the Board has already shown me that the organisation is well positioned and capable to further capitalise on its position as the leading independent voice for the people of Essex in health and social care matters and to ensure that the needs of the population are served.”
