Teenage racing sensation, Emily Linscott, from Basildon in Essex, is best known for her prowess behind the wheel of some incredibly fast and powerful race cars, as well as building her “brand” on and off the racetrack. Linscott isn’t content with just building her own career, she’s also engaging in creating something exciting for children in education to learn more about her sport.

Emily comments, “getting into motorsport can be very expensive, plus not many people know how much is involved in getting behind the wheel of a race car or kart, so I came up with the idea of providing STEM based learning opportunities for underprivileged children and schools to not only learn more about what I do as a racing driver but also get actively involved in driving a kart too; so I created a programme called Motorsport In Education.”
She continues, “I did most of the work myself but had some help from the charity I’m an apprentice at and from sponsors and partners too, so I could deliver something really worthwhile. I had to talk to businesses to help me build the platform, as my aim was to do the first day in March of this year, so I had lots to do.”

“Those businesses started off with my sponsors. My newest sponsor, FASTR, an Automotive Apparel company in Derbyshire, will be bringing their stunning Bentley Continental GT3 race car down to the venue for the children to get up close to, have a photo opportunity with and to see inside of a real race car. FASTR are also helping to fund the first two events as there’s more to pay for than I imagined. ‘Everyone Active Basildon Sporting Village’ are providing two Personal Trainers to deliver physical training activities, like those that I do to keep fit, plus a warm-up session I use before each race. But we needed a venue to run at, so I approached TeamSport Indoor Karting who have an amazing kart centre at the ‘Basildon Festival Leisure’. When I got an email back from their CEO, Dominic Gaynor, saying he’d be “interested in hearing more” and then invited me for a meeting, I was blown away! TeamSport not only offered their incredible Basildon facility but also asked me to be an ambassador for TeamSport’s new British Indoor Karting Championships (BIKC) that launches in March. That was it, I’d got everything needed to do the pilot day.

We launch the ‘Motorsport In Education’ scheme to media at the TeamSport Indoor Karting Centre in Basildon Festival Leisure on March 25th.
Mr Gaynor, TeamSport CEO, said of the venture, “It’s incredible to think that this talented young racing driver is already giving back to the wider audience. I was so impressed by her positive attitude and so loved the concept that we’d be helping the next generations, that I was only too pleased to offer our partnership and our state-of-the-art TeamSport karting facility to launch this exciting journey.

We understand that once the pilot day has been wrapped up, we may be able to continue working together on building the final model for delivery across the UK. Emily represents an inspirational symbol of hope for the younger generations to follow, which resonates perfectly with TeamSport’s own ethos of supporting and nurturing the youngsters of tomorrow. The launch teams perfectly with the launch of BIKC, an accessible and affordable championship TeamSport will be launching in March in association with Motorsport UK, whereby TeamSport Elite Members of all ages
