Safer Basildon Hub relaunches

Basildon has relaunched its community safety hub with more agencies working together to safeguard vulnerable people, tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and reduce re-offending in the borough.

The Safer Basildon hub, based in the Basildon Centre, aims to strengthen local partnership arrangements by co-locating partnership agencies who are responsible for the delivery of the Safer Basildon Partnership Plan.

The hub will work to address local issues, providing the opportunity to share real time information, improve the case management of those individuals who cause harm, deliver more responsive joint action for local communities and improve the service offered to victims.

The Leader of Basildon Council, Councillor Gavin Callaghan said: “Our investment in the Safer Basildon Hub demonstrates a commitment to community safety which I know is a priority for our residents and businesses.

“We have also turned the streetlights back on, invested in CCTV, funded additional police officers for our town centres, as well as listening to the concerns of residents at our Together for Safer Community public meetings”

Chair of Safer Basildon, Scott Logan added: “Community Safety Hubs have been developing across Essex and for Basildon to invest in its own hub is seen as vital to responding to local challenges and identifying emerging trends that require multi-agency responses.”

Partners who are located within the Safer Basildon Hub are Basildon Council, Essex Police and Essex Community Rehabilitation Company. Others agencies who use the space are Essex County Fire & Rescue Service and Family Solutions.
