A group of fundraisers honouring the life of a 9-year-old boy have been handed £1,000 funding from a regional housebuilder.
United for Leo was set up following the tragic death of Leo Latifi, from Chelmsford, after an accident at an after school swimming club.
Leo’s school friends wanted to do something positive to raise much-needed funds for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and Great Ormand Street Hospital – charities nominated by Leo’s parents.
Persimmon Homes Essex donated the money as part of its Community Champions initiative. The scheme donates up to £2,000 each month to local causes.
Phil Standen, managing director for Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “Our thoughts and respects remain with Leo’s family and friends.
It’s touching to see the whole community coming together to raise funds to these two charities to pay tribute to Leo and we’re honoured to play a part in that with this donation.”
Jo Rogers, from the charity said: “United for Leo is a way for us to show our love and support for Leo’s family. We have raised more than £7,000 for these amazing charities and we’re very grateful for everybody’s generosity.”
