Basildon Council has taken ownership of eight homes to help provide housing to borough residents.
As part of the council’s Housing Revenues Account (HRA) build and acquisition programme, it has been actively purchasing housing to go back into the social housing stock.
The properties have been specifically allocated to those qualifying for housing in the borough.
The properties include two, two-bed houses and three, three-bed maisonettes.
Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Gavin Callaghan, said: “I am pleased we have purchased these homes and taken them into our stock. They are much needed and will provide homes for Basildon families. We have a healthy build programme that is delivering but we must also continue to do all we can to make best use of existing properties like these and take a Basildon first approach to housing.”
