Purse bells, card defenders, bike marking kits and other crime prevention materials are expected to be snapped up quickly by Basildon shoppers at a Safer Basildon crime prevention roadshow this Thursday (22 August) in the Eastgate Shopping Centre from 10am-3pm.
It is also an opportunity to find out more about keeping yourself and your property safe, as well as take away the free crime prevention materials. Representatives from Essex Police, Basildon Council and Basildon Borough Neighbourhood Watch will also be on hand to meet residents and answer questions they may have on volunteering schemes like Neighbourhood Watch and Active Citizens.
Councillor Kerry Smith, Basildon Council’s Chairman of the Housing and Communities Committee, said: “During the school holidays, the town centre is usually busier with people who often don’t have a chance to come along to our roadshows to pick up free crime prevention materials or speak to us about their community safety concerns.
“We are committed to working together with our partners to make the borough a safer place by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and it’s events like this that go a small way towards that.”
