Two Chelmsford burns survivors have received a £1,000 donation from a regional housebuilder to boost their fundraising campaign to say thank you to the Katie Piper Foundation.

Fundraisers Amy and Amber, who were both patients at the Foundation, were awarded the money from Persimmon Homes North London as part of its Community Champions scheme, which provides match-funded funding up to £1,000 to two groups every month.

The Katie Piper Foundation is the UK’s only charity dedicated to progressing rehabilitation focussed scar management and psycho-social support for burns survivors. The organisation offers peer to peer support, scar tattooing, hair restoration and medical tattooing.

Katie Jones, spokesperson for Katie Piper Foundation, said: “Amy and Amber completed their rehabilitation stay with us in February 2019 and were inspired to fundraise for us to allow others to benefit from our service.

“With the generous donation from Persimmon Homes, Amy and Amber have now had their fundraising efforts matched.
“We are very thankful for the generosity of Persimmon homes; their donation will help burns survivors across the UK.”

Rachel Faulkner, sales director of Persimmon Homes North London, said: “We are pleased that we have been able to contribute to the fundraising efforts of Amy and Amber.
“The Katie Piper Foundation is a very worthy cause and we hope that the donation can help lots of people get the support they need.”
