My guest this week on Women’s Radio Station is Dr Carol Stott. We covered alot of topics within the autism spectrum such as autism diagnosis, training within the NHS and the criminal justice system.
Dr. Carol Stott completed her PhD in the University of Cambridge, Autism Research Centre in 2001. She also has an MSc in Epidemiology from the University of London, School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigation from the University of Liverpool. She is currently in the second year of an online LLB qualifying course in law.
Dr. Stott is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health Care Professions Council of the UK. She is a Chartered Scientist (CSci), Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS) and Regional Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
As an accredited international trainer on the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), the ‘gold-standard’ diagnostic tools for assessment of children and adults with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), Dr. Stott carries out training courses for health practitioners and academic research teams in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.
She regularly delivers courses training on ASD diagnosis using ADI-R and ADOS-2 on behalf of Hogrefe, UK, test distributors www.hogrefe.co.uk/ADOS-2-course-feedback and on behalf of the Andrew Simms Centre, who form part of the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a leading UK provider of continuing professional development (CPD) events for the NHS www.andrewsimscentre.nhs.uk

Dr. Stott has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed papers on autism and developmental disorders and has made numerous contributions to books on the subject of autism.
Dr. Stott’s current interests include the experience of people with ASD in the criminal justice system from offending, arrest and interrogation, trial, sentencing and custodial sanctions. She has acted as an expert and professional witness in criminal and family courts and in educational tribunal and employment tribunal. Dr. Stott is also interested in helping services develop greater expertise in differentiating between ASD, attachment and personality disorders.
