Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, spent the weekend (15-16 June) celebrating the communities of East Tilbury and Pitsea.
The Heart of Pitsea Celebration & AGM on Saturday and the East Tilbury Fund Day on Sunday saw community and representatives come together in a sign of communal spirit. The two events were attended by many organisations including: Pitsea Library, Helping Hands, Essex Child, Family Wellbeing Service, Batias, Peaceful Place, as well as newly elected Councillors such as Fraser Massey (Independent, East Tilbury).
Stephen Metcalfe said: “We are fortunate across Basildon and Thurrock to have such proud, connected local communities. It was a pleasure to celebrate our sense of community over the weekend and I thank all the organisers, participants and donors for their involvement.
Bringing communities together is one of the most powerful things we can do. Cllr Fraser Massey and I were pleased to play our part in doing that”.
