Suffolk Coffee Company, Paddy & Scott’s has opened its first fuelling station in Chelmsford, Essex, housed within the newly-refurbished Riverside Leisure Centre.
Riverside Leisure Centre reopened on Monday 10th June following a state-of-the-art £40m and 20-month refurbishment programme. The new centre, which includes a high tech gym, soft play area, two swimming pools and an ice rink, now also boasts a Paddy & Scott’s fuelling station at its centre.
As its first outpost in the city, The new Paddy & Scott’s has a modern design with a strong colour scheme, showcasing warm and cool shades through comfortable and welcoming furnishings.
A brick wall sits as the backdrop on one side and the large glass panelled windows surround the edges of the coffee shop, which features both outdoor and indoor seating.
“The fuelling station has been designed so visitors can refresh and relax after a swim, workout or skate, whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the river,” explains Martin Westhorp at Paddy & Scott’s. “We mixed together the furnishings, with chairs as well as large armchairs, so it’s a really welcoming and comfortable space to drink or dine in.”
The 100-cover cafe will be serving Paddy & Scott’s array of coffee which is grown and harvested on its own farm in Kenya. With Coffee Culture in the UK at its peak of popularity, the coffee served needs to be the best quality available to rival similar coffee shops. Other hot drinks and soft drinks will also be available, along with a delicious menu of hot and cold food. “This project has been a long time in the making and we are delighted to be involved in a centre which has been at the very heart of this city for so many years. The excitement from the public for its opening was phenomenal and we’re very excited to introduce people in Chelmsford to our fantastic coffee,” adds Martin.
Scott Russell launched the Paddy & Scott’s coffee business from the boot of his car in 2007. It operates four cafes in Suffolk and one in Dorset, as well as more than 150 branded concessions in the UK, Hong Kong, Shanghai and the Middle East. The company also has its own coffee farm in Kenya.
