Everybody is welcome – that is the message from the Mayor of Basildon in an open invite to residents to the annual Civic Service at St Martin’s Church, St Martin’s Square, Basildon, on Monday 24 June at 6pm.
On the year that the new town is celebrating its 70th anniversary, Basildon borough councillors will join community and voluntary group representatives, residents and partner organisations at their annual service marking the start of the new civic year.
The recently elected Mayor of Basildon, Councillor David Burton-Sampson, will lead an act of dedication of service to others. The Leader of the Council and The Chief Executive will be invited to address the congregation, recollecting the past year and their hopes for the next.
Cllr Burton-Sampson said: “Basildon at 70 is a very special year for us and the annual Civic Service is an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on our past. But it is just as important that together we look ahead to the future and our hopes and ambitions as a community. The theme of our service this year will be celebration and unity.”
