Luxury country house hotel, Down Hall, is ramping things up ahead of the first ever LIVE AT DOWN HALL, with Jools Holland and James Morrison on 15th and 16th June. The hotly anticipated weekend will see these two world class acts supported by an array of talent as they take to the stage within the hotel’s 110 acre grounds on the Hertfordshire/Essex border.

Kicking off an evening of fabulous of jazz and blues, is the hugely talented, worldwide solo artist, Emma Hatton who will warm the audience up with her dazzling vocals. With leading lady roles in the West End including Eva Peron in Evita, Elphaba in Wicked and Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, Emma has an incredible vocal range and is as comfortable singing blues as she is jazz, soul and country. Her debut EP, Thirty Three and a Third, went straight to Number 1 in the iTunes Jazz & Blues chart in October 2018.
Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Mabel Ray, and long-time friend and drummer Gilson Lavis – all part of his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra – will also be joining Jools Holland as guest vocalists. In addition, Pauline Black and Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson, of 80s two-tone band The Selecter, will be making a special appearance on stage. The duo has previously performed with Jools at the Royal Albert Hall and Pauline has ties to the Essex area. Having appeared with The Specials and Madness on Top of the Pops in 1979, The Selecter has several Top 40 singles in the British charts including On My Radio, Three Minute Hero and Missing Words.

Local sensation Tom Ryder will take to the Live at Down Hall stage on Sunday 16th, the perfect forerunner to James Morrison’s soulful tones. Operating from his home studio in Bishop’s Stortford, Tom’s original song writing, and soaring vocals have seen him receive nationwide attention, with the lead single Strings Attached on his debut EP picked up by BBC Introducing as ‘track of the week’. His 2017 single, Here We Go Again, reached Number 3 in the iTunes singer/songwriter chart.
With two Number 1 albums, a BRIT award and more than 7 million worldwide sales to his name, James Morrison is set to perform new songs from his acclaimed 2019 album You’re Stronger Than You Know, along with those which first brought him international fame. Following a four-year absence, James is firmly back on the music scene, with more soul than ever flowing through this newest collection of brilliantly poignant songs.
