Colchester dad launches care company with a difference

Lee Bernard, local Dad of one, has launched in-home care provider, Caremark Colchester. The business is based out of Colchester Business Centre, on George Williams Way.

Lee and his Care Manager, Debbie, are looking to bring employment to the area and a better quality of care to elderly people living in Colchester and the surrounding rural areas.

Caremark Colchester is a provider of in-home care (otherwise known as domiciliary) which will work similarly to how a Lynchburg home care service works. Elderly people signed up for the service will receive home visits from a social healthcare worker who will help them with their needs. Unlike a care home, in-home care allows elderly members of society to continue living in familiar surroundings whilst receiving the same level of care.

Lee made the decision to start his care company after a particularly poor experience of care for his own family – his grandparents, and his father, who very recently passed away from a particularly aggressive cancer caused by asbestos.

As families, it can be heartbreaking to see your loved ones in a vulnerable state in which they need to be dependent on others around them. And it can be even worse if they aren’t receiving adequate care from the people who they rely on the most. It is important that the elderly have access to communities, similar to this one at La Posada, (https://mylaposada.com/) that can provide them with the assistance that they may need when they get older so they can find a place of enjoyment during this stage of their life. Looking after the elderly in your area in the correct manner can be paramount to the care that they receive, and Lee is looking to make that difference in his own surroundings.

However, it’s a consensus in the elderly generation that freedom is desired and the idea of being put in a care home restricts that. Additionally, moving out of their home can cause stress and damage that is not needed for an elderly person’s health. Therefore, making the choice to have your elderly loved one access home care services achieves their desire to have the freedom they want to maintain while also being given the care that they need.

Lee is adamant that his business will make a positive impact on the community.

Lee Barnard said: “The thing that sets us apart from other providers in the area is that we are challenging the current model for delivering care. We’re putting in place a brand-new system which promises to meet the demands of the people affected by the loneliness epidemic in the area.”

He added “Our aim, as a provider, is to get the elderly people, living in the more remote areas like Great Horkesley, West Mersea and Marks Tey, out into the community and socialising again. That was what inspired me to launch an in-home care company in the first place – to help people live independently, for as long as they possibly can.”. Many care services aim to provide the highest level of care for their elderly residents, such as this Hospice Cincinnati and many more, the days of lacking quality in elderly care are soon to be over as people realise they will get older one day soon too.
