Harlow Council is encouraging residents to take part in spring clean

Harlow Council is encouraging residents to take pride in their community by taking part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean.

The event, which runs from March 22 to April 23, aims to bring together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep.

To support this initiative, the Council is providing the use of litter picking equipment and arranging the removal of rubbish collected. Community groups, residents’ associations and schools will also receive £100.

Councillor Danny Purton, Harlow Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment, said:

“Every year the Council spends around £2 million on its daily cleaning of the streets, whether that is picking up litter, clearing dumped rubbish, or cleaning off graffiti.

“By working together residents, the Council and HTS can help reduce this cost and make Harlow a more pleasant place to live.

“To support this, the council is working closely with HTS to look at a long-term campaign to encourage people to take pride in our town and to work with us to keep Harlow clean and tidy.”
