It has been a busy year for local volunteers who work with Harlow Council to look after Harlow’s green open spaces.
All year round the committed volunteers work hard for Harlow.
Last week the Greenteam volunteers planted 600 trees completing a hedgerow restoration project at Parndon Lock Meadows. Around 120 m of neglected hedgerow has been coppiced over the autumn by the volunteers and contractors cleared out the ditch in preparation of the last week’s tree planting.
The Harlow Conservation volunteers recently prepared oak from Parndon Wood for a new bridge in Netteswell Plantation woods off Second Avenue. The bridge was replaced after it was vandalised. Harlowbury Lodge has provided £500 funding for the iron work needed. The bridge, which has been named in memory of former Council employee Darren Fazackerley, will be officially opened in the new year.
These projects are just two examples of things the volunteers do for the town. Harlow Council would like to say a big thank you to all volunteers for their work during 2018.
