Talliston House & Gardens is unique. Founded by John Trevillian in 1990, the project took the UK’s most ordinary house and over 25 years transformed it into “Britain’s Most Extraordinary Home” (The Sunday Times).
At its heart, this labyrinth of inspirational locations, times and places is a showcase of the power of our imagination – and the unlocking of the secret that lies within all of us.
Our new Talliston Artist-in-Residence is Pam Smy, an artist and author of Thornhill. “I am delighted to be able to have the opportunity to draw at Talliston. The house combines meticulous attention to detail with a magical atmosphere and is a gift to any narrative illustrator. I am looking forward to capturing the feel of the house and gardens and those that come to visit such a special place. It is a unique opportunity and I can’t wait to be there with a sketchbook to hand.”

The Talliston Writer in Residence programme was established to provide resources over the course of one year. It sets out to use Talliston’s interiors to motivate and encourage writers and artists, providing an inspirational space to write, draw, research and create. Under the auspices of Artistic Patron Linda Stratmann, these new people will be joining a community committed to creative excellence.
