Independent online store Banana Boutique has launched its first full seasonal range online today [20th Sept 18]. The women’s vintage inspired fashions store that features popular retro brands such as King Louie and Dixie Chick is owned by Danbury based retail specialist Dana Jackson.
Having spent several years working as a manager for brands such as Top Shop, Oasis and Debenhams Dana wanted to create an online boutique that still provided a unique and personal customer service which she was able to give in-store. “The high street is changing” Dana explains, “Opening a store would be costly and limit my audience to local customers only whereas being online gives everyone the opportunity to try my concept of an online store with a difference”.
Inspired by her childhood nickname (Dana Banana) and her love for all things retro she set the website up in June with the help of her husband Jim. Alongside her love of clothing is a desire to make people happy, irrespective of who they are, and she has spent the past couple of months ensuring that customers get a unique experience when they purchase from her online store, as well as making sure that she herself has the relevant tools, such as inventory management software, to help her stay on top of stock and keep the business running as smoothly and well-organised as possible.
Dana showcased her AW 18 collection at a recent fashion show at Ingatestone Hall which raised £1700 for the restoration of the organ in St Mary and St Edmund Parish Church and said she felt confident from the feedback she had received that it would be a success, or in her own words, “If you’re happy that makes me happy”
