In celebration of Afternoon Tea Week this August (14th – 20th), join Down Hall Hotel & Spa for a beautiful Allotment Afternoon Tea, using seasonal ingredients from fruit and vegetable patches on the 110 acres of surrounding gardens and woodland. Available now until the 31st August, enjoy a unique root to plate experience in the splendour of Down Hall’s newly launched terrace. On 15th August, Down Hall will also host a special tea tasting with PMD Tea, where guests can sample a variety of ethically sourced teas from Sri Lanka.
Celebrating the best of British seasonal fruits and vegetables, Down Hall’s Allotment Afternoon Tea is available daily from 1pm to 5:30pm and is priced at £30 per person. Tuck into garden-inspired seasonal cakes with highlights of dark chocolate ganache with raspberry and lemon picked straight from the patch; fresh rhubarb mousse, custard and mint served in a charming edible plant pot; and a carrot and white chocolate macaroon topped with Thai basil to satisfy any sweet tooth. Guests will also enjoy a selection of savoury sandwiches including salmon and cream cheese as well as ham and whole grain mustard. No afternoon tea would be complete without scones! Guests can indulge in a selection of fresh, out-of-the oven scones with Devonshire clotted cream and Tiptree preserves.
Enjoy your Allotment Afternoon Tea with ethically sourced tea from PMD Tea Company, hand plucked in the Dimbula Valley in Sri Lanka. A unique “Planter’s Range” has been created especially for Down Hall and guests can sip on the likes of the ‘Radiant Rose,’ a black tea infused with rose petals; or the Waldemar Roasted Oolong with notes of poached pears and nuts.
Experience the full range of seasonal PMD teas at a special tasting on 15th August at 2pm. Guests will have the opportunity to sample a variety of flavourful teas and learn the tasting notes of each. A PMD Tea specialist will lead the tasting and will be on hand to answer questions. Perfect for tea connoisseurs wishing to expand their knowledge and novices alike, the PMD Tea tasting is £35 per person and includes the Allotment Afternoon Tea.
