Southends’ Cash Converters store has set itself a charity ‘goal’ to raise funds for a local homeless charity with an instore Subbuteo challenge.
With the opening of the FIFA World Cup just weeks away store manager Stewart Grant and his team have got into the spirit of the international football championship by setting up the retro soccer game in the South Church Road shop.
Customers and staff can enter and play in the ‘Cash Converters’ League’ – a 12 team Subbuteo tournament with prizes during the FIFA World Cup from 14 June.
A one-off fee to enter the tournament of £6 will be donated to local charity HARP who provide essential services and long term solutions to support local people taking steps to overcome homelessness.
Prizes for those entering will include: a first prize of a Champion League edition of Subbuteo plus a £50 store voucher, a second prize of a replica World Cup Football and £25 voucher and some store vouchers for runners up.
A grand final will be held on 14 July with the ultimate winner taking home the first prize and the glory of being the Cash Converters’ World Cup Subbuteo Champion.
Games will be played on the following dates: 16, 23, 26, 30 June and 3,7,14 July.
