The countdown is on! There are just 44 sleeps left until schools break up for summer and Lee Valley Park Farms welcomes visitors to its action packed Summer of Adventure programme. The family favourite is to host three, themed fortnights throughout the school holidays, each showcasing a different group of animals and running activities to engage and entertain little ones:
• Hawking Around (Saturday 21 July – Friday 3 August): Focusing on all things birds, in particular majestic birds of prey, activities across the opening fortnight will include falconry displays and an interactive farmyard trail. Customers visiting on Tuesday 24, Tuesday 31 July and Saturday 2 August will be able to meet Pete the Dinosaur, a roaring animatronic T-Rex and find out how the prehistoric beast is related to the humble chicken.
• Horse Play (Saturday 4 – Friday 17 August): Featuring live donkey and pony shows during which visitors can groom and ride these four legged friends, the fortnight will also celebrate the mythical unicorn. Smoke breathing Flame the Dragon will be making a special guest appearance on Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 August. Visitors are also invited to dress up for a one-off Cowboys themed weekend on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August.
• Critter Crazy (Saturday 18 August – Sunday 2 September): Think stick insects and snakes, rabbits and reptiles – and everything in between! The final fortnight will shine a light on the friendliest critters from around the farm and invite visitors to get up close during special shows.
Visitors planning to make regular visits to the farm can take advantage of its Summer Pass priced at £18pp that allows its pass holder free entry until the end of the school holidays on Sunday 2 September. The Summer Pass can be purchased online or in person at the farm’s reception. In addition to unlimited visits, benefits as a Summer Pass member include 20% off food and drink at The Bumblebee Café.
On arrival to the farm, young Summer Pass Explorers will be presented with their very own My Adventure booklet – 14 pages of fun tasks and puzzles to complete in order to win special badges, some of which can only be accomplished whilst onsite at the farm.
