The themes and principles of the Essex Design Guide will now be taken into account when planning applications are determined by Basildon Council.
The Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Committee voted in favour of endorsing the guide as a material consideration when it met last night (Thursday 28 June). This will give the guide more weight during the assessment of planning applications.
The Essex Design Guide is often used by planners, urban designers, architects and developers as a reference point to help create high quality developments with an identity specific to the county. It includes guidance on architectural details, internal building design, layout and highways standards.
