With summer now in full flow, the charity Parkinson’s UK and celebrity baker and actress Jane Asher are calling on people to welcome the sun, and bring the fun, by hosting a Garden Gathering in Essex this summer.
Garden Gathering is an exciting feel good fundraiser to encourage family and friends across the country to host gatherings in their gardens or favourite outdoor spaces and raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK. Whether people host a BBQ with beer, or an afternoon tea with pink lemonade and a playlist, it’s a unique way to make a real difference to the 3,800 living with Parkinson’s in Essex.
Catherine Mizen from Thaxted, whose Granny had Parkinson’s for 12 years said:
“A summer get together is a fantastic way to fundraise for the charity. For us, it has a festival theme, with two bands performing, a BBQ, a raffle and an auction, we are expecting to welcome 250 guests, so we’re hoping the weather will hold out!
Our family are arranging a Garden Gathering in remembrance of My Granny, it’s a wonderful way of bringing people; friends and family together in order to celebrate her memory, paired with raising money for such a deserving charity. She lived with the condition for about twelve years.”
