Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, ex-England and Essex cricketer Ronnie Irani and former World Championship cyclist David Millar helped raise more than £26,500 for Haven House Children’s Hospice at the Sub-Zero Wolf Charity Auction in Knightsbridge.

Around 100 guests attended the glitzy event at the premium kitchen and fridge brand’s showroom at 251 Brompton Road on Thursday 27 April with the sporting legends acting as the auctioneers.

Guests had the chance to enjoy champagne and canapes on arrival followed by an hour of socialising and networking. Just before the auction started at 8pm, the mood in the room became serious as Gary and Ronnie introduced Haven House’s appeal film.

The film shows Jessica, Antony and Adam, three young people from Haven House’s Teenage Cancer Group talking candidly about the impact of receiving a cancer diagnosis and how the hospice provides support to children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, and their families.

Gary and Ronnie then started the auction which featured 24 luxury prizes and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Prized lots which went under the hammer included a Sub-Zero Wolf gourmet set sold for £2,000 and one of cyclist David Millar’s Brompton bikes sold for £1,600.
