Hereford Film’s latest flick THE KRAYS – DEAD MAN WALKING is one of 2018’s most anticipated films. Due for release later this year we took a look into the upcoming production.
Here is what we know!
- IT’S A VERY FEMALE-CENTRIC GANGSTER FILM
The film’s top billed star is Rita Simons who played Roxy Mitchell in Eastenders for 9 years. Her casting made a lot of headlines and has given the film a real momentum. Rita plays Lisa, a hostess hired by the Krays to pacify Mitchell but who he falls in love with, bringing about his eventual downfall. Strong female parts in British gangster film are rare and Rita Simons’performance is harrowing and brilliant. The film also features strong supporting turns by Janine Nerissa, Triana Terry and Linda Lusardi.
- THE SUPPORTING CAST IS FULL OF WELL-LOVED TV FACES
The unusually strong supporting cast includes Britflick stalwart Chris Ellison, much loved both as Burnside in The Bill and as Roy in the We Still Kill The Old Way film series but he isn’t the only familiar face. Holby City veteran Guy Henry positively drips sleazy bonhomie as Lord Boothby, which Nicholas Ball, best known for his TV series Hazell, delivers a sinister turn as Harry Webster. Darren Day plays Don, a man foolish enough to front up to The Krays. And Eastenders icon Leslie Grantham, best known as ‘Dirty’ Den Watts, plays Nipper Reed, the detective in dogged pursuit of The Krays.
- THERE MIGHT BE A SEQUEL… OR TWO
Producer Richard Watts-Joyce recently revealed that a sequel is on the drawing board should the first film prove a success. “We are interested in exploring further one-off stories about the Twins – they had so many adventures that have never been documented and we like the idea of building a cinematic universe that links them all together. We’d definitely like to do another one.”
