BMX riders are being asked to help Basildon Council design the borough’s first specialised bike track.

A proposal has been made to create a track in Victoria Park, Laindon, and Basildon Council is keen to hear from local people with a keen interest in BMX’ing in order to find out how much interest this facility will generate.

We want to seek the views of people of all ages from across the borough to ensure the facility benefits the BMX community.

Should the proposal proceed, those who have engaged with us will be asked to help co-design the track.

Cllr Alan Ball, Chairman of Basildon Council’s Regeneration and Environment Committee, said: “We are committed to working with the local community to ensure this track will be of maximum benefit and really add value to our leisure offer in the borough. We want to support good all-round physical health and wellbeing, and we understand that providing facilities such as this is key to shaping healthy communities.

“With BMX freestyling being entered into the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the track has the potential to generate future sporting stars.”
