The Stortford Music Festival aka The Bish-Bash makes a welcome return in 2018.

The festival, which took a break this year returns to it’s traditional May bank holiday date, falling on 5th and 6th May 2018.

Already confirmed to headline the Saturday are The Rolling Clones, one of the UK’s biggest and best Rolling Stones tribute bands.

Sunday’s headliners are 90s indie band The Bluetones, and living legend Wilko Johnson.

Wilko Johnson was the original guitarist for Canvey Island RnB legends Dr. Feelgood, recording four albums with them before going solo, then joining The Blockheads in 1980.

His highly publicised fight with and recovery from cancer in recent years has seen Wilko Johnson in the spotlight again, starring in Game Of Thrones and Oil City Confidential, recording a top 3 album with Roger Daltrey from The Who, and taking his new band featuring Blockheads bassist Norman Watt-Roy and drummer Dylan Howe on the road.

The Bluetones were part of the Brit-pop explosion in the late 90s, a genre topped by the warring factions of Oasis and Blur.

Their debut album Expecting To Fly hit the number 1 spot in 1996 and spawned the hit singles Slight Return, Cut Some Rug and Marblehead Johnson.

They have since released a further 5 studio albums including top 10 follow-up Return To The Last Chance Saloon and have toured the UK to rave reviews ever since.

Other acts confirmed so far included WITHERED HAND(acclaimed indie/nu folk from Scotland), nu-jazz duoVertaal, punk band The Muffin Heads, Real McKoys and Pet Needs.More acts will be announced soon.

The Bish-Bash will return to Sworders Field in Bishop’s Stortford, and will include all the usual festival mainstays including real ale bar, Stortford Soundsystem, comedy, Acoustic stage and kids area.

The community event is looking for sponsors for support. It has been noted at various other festivals that sponsors have had custom drum kit wraps; this may be an option for exposure brands. Interested parties can contact the festival at [email protected]

Early-bird tickets will be on sale for the weekend from Friday 15th December at the Tourist Information Centre or online from https://live.advancedticketing.co.uk/kiosk?vendor=stortfordfestival
