It’s official: Hylands Estate offers one of the best free days out for kids! Readers of Primary Times has given the historic Hylands Park and adventure play area a big thumbs up by voting it runner-up at the prestigious Essex Star Awards 2018.
The Primary Times Essex Star awards, are now in their fifth year and they champion the best places and best businesses within Essex for families with young children. All the winners have been selected solely by votes from the readers of Primary Times in Essex.

Hylands Estate offers a free to use castle themed adventure playground, which boasts four metre high castle battlements with portcullis and drawbridge entrance with dedicated play areas. The main adventure castle has two large sections of castle wall, one of which is suitable for wheelchairs. There are ladders, scramble nets and boards with lots of opportunity to climb, run and jump, as well as slides at varying heights, sensory equipment, a musical wall and spinning games discs. Adjacent are natural play features such as willow tunnels, carvings and bears.
