Priti Patel MP and the Essex Chamber of Commerce hosted a summit between businesses from Essex and Local Government Minister Jake Berry MP, whose responsibilities include the Thames Estuary and Local Growth, at the House of Commons [29 January 2018].
The meeting of the Essex Business, Transport and Infrastructure Forum (EBTIF) was the first strategic dialogue between Essex businesses and the Government on growth and investment opportunities to discuss their economic vision for the County and regeneration and investment in the Thames Estuary, infrastructure and transport will support economic growth. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also arrived at the end of the meeting to discuss trade opportunities post-Brexit.
Speaking at the Summit Priti said:
“The voice of Essex businesses including small and medium sized companies are crucial to long term growth and investment plans of Essex. We have fantastic job creating businesses throughout the County of Essex who are innovative and include many world leaders. Strategically planned investment in infrastructure and policies that support economic growth in the County will unlock significant new levels of economic growth and job creation and business and the LEP want to play their part in building strong vision for Essex and our economy.”
