There’s a taste of the Caribbean about this year’s Veganuary as Turtle Bay serves up a delicious array of Caribbean-inspired vegan dishes and drinks with their first ever dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu.
Caribbean cooking is all about laid back ‘liming’ – sharing food and drink with friends over laughter and conversation. Turtle Bay’s aim is to ensure that vegans and vegetarians are just as well catered for as the meat-eaters in any group. This is happening more and more in restaurants as well as things like food delivery services. For example, veestro specialises in pre-prepared vegan meals that you can have delivered to you. It’s becoming easier and easier to be vegan, finally!
Vegan dishes at Turtle Bay include:
Cutters are inspired by the beach shack and street vendors across the Caribbean islands. These great tasting dishes are perfect for a starter or to graze on with friends and family. Vegan ‘cutters’ include the Trini Doubles and Sweet Corn Fritters.
For meat and dairy free light bites, there’s the Curried Chickpea with Peppers & Mushroom wrap, and some great salads including the SuperVital Green Salad, Festival Salad and Four Grain Salad – all fresh and fabulous.
One Pots are rich, slowly simmered and uniquely Caribbean dishes, with vegan options including Ital Rundown and Spinach Aubergine and Sweet Potato Curry.
There’s delicious ‘provisions’ too which make great sides and include Trini Watermelon Chow, Trini Pineapple Chow and Supergreen Salad. Not forgetting a long list of delicious tropical drinks, with a huge range of those suitable for vegans and vegetarians too.
