Harlow MP Robert Halfon has this week weighed in on the issue of homelessness in his constituency.
In a statement Mr. Halfon said
“I really welcome the incredible efforts of Streets2Homes and the Chocolate Run, both of which I have visited a number of times. The work that they do is extraordinary.”
He added “As well as supporting these fantastic local charities, I’ve been working hard to get more Government money to tackle homelessness.”
Earlier this year Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government announced that Harlow together with select Essex towns will be receiving £891,300 as part of the Government’s Homelessness Prevention Trailblazers scheme.
On top of this £891,000, Harlow Council will receive an additional £136,178 of Government funding to implement new guidelines from the Homelessness Reduction Act.
The Act sets out the steps that local authorities should take into account when providing support to people who are homeless.
