A former homeless man has landed himself a new job as a van driver for Emmaus Colchester.
Ian Goodwin has lived and worked at Emmaus Colchester for over four years after finding himself homeless following a family fallout.
Ian said: “Life before I came to Emmaus wasn’t good, I was unemployed and due to a family fall out I found myself on the streets, staying in night shelters on and off for three months. Then I heard about Emmaus, went to meet the team at the community house and moved in shortly after.
“Emmaus has helped me to get my life back, it gave me a reason to get up in the morning, I got my driving licence back and various on the job training that really helped to build my confidence.
Emmaus Colchester is home to 34 formerly homeless people giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives.
