The Department for Transport have announced new aviation security measures on all inbound direct flights to the UK, the new ban specified for most electronic devices will affect people travelling from certain countries and what they can bring into the cabin.
Under the new arrangements, passengers boarding flights from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia to the UK will not be allowed to take phones, laptops and tablets which are larger than a standard smartphone into the cabin of the plane and these items would need to be checked in.
If you wish to travel with a laptop or tablet computers, such as an iPad or Kindle device, you are advised to contact your travel insurance company ahead of travel as these devices are typically not covered by travel insurance policies either for loss, damage or theft when placed in the hold.
Authorised have advised prospective travellers from these countries that they may wish to consider leaving your electronic devices at home.
